The Lunatic Left

I’ve said many times that the Left isn’t serious about reducing our $16+ trillion debt or our $1+ trillion annual budget deficits.  They are only concerned about punishing the successful and passing out more goodies to their base.

Do you still not believe me?

220px-Jerrold_Nadler,_Official_Portrait,_c112th_CongressLet me introduce you to Democratic Representative from New York, Jerrold Nadler (@RepJerryNadler) and his latest plan to get us through this debt ceiling.  From The Hill article (emphasis mine):

“A group of House Democrats accused Republicans of having “weaponized” the debt ceiling Wednesday, and are pushing to abolish it.”

“The lawmakers blasted GOP members as taking the economic wellbeing of the nation hostage to achieve political victory, and are hoping to scrap the debt limit once and for all as a danger looming over the economy.”

“The Republicans have chosen to exploit the routine necessity of raising the debt ceiling as a means of blackmailing the American people in order to impose an extremist agenda,” said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), a leading sponsor of the measure abolishing the ceiling.”

Yep, you read that right.  He just wants to abolish the debt ceiling and allow our government to write blank checks that our children and grand children can’t possibly pay.

Since Washington DC is now in the habit of drafting fantasy legislation, Representative Nadler should tack on an amendment that abolishes Cancer too.

And remember that this is the same Jerrold Nadler that pushed for the minting of a $1 trillion coin that would be deposited in a Federal Reserve Bank and then the US Government could write checks from that deposit.

Leftists aren’t serious about the doom that awaits our Nation in the very near future and this is just another example.

    🙂

They are supremely unserious. Actually, I think Whittle even called them that back in December.
However, they are going all-in on their power grab, because when (not if) the house of cards falls, the more power they have, the harder it will be for us to be rid of them.

They are traitors; jail ’em all.

  2. --Rick says:

They can’t be traitors. They can’t be convicted of treason by the Senate. They can’t be convicted on any impeachment charge because they own the Senate. If we all stood atop the highest building in every town in America with a bullhorn and shouted out for justice, no one would hear us, just as no one hears the Republicans like Rubio who speak on the immorality and adverse affect the debt has on national security. All people seem to hear is who will support ensuring I get my piece of government largess and who would reduce it in size – not end it, but simply reduce it in order to regain control of runaway spending, ensure economic stability, national security and domestic tranquility. They would rather we devolve into another civil war before they agree to give up one, two, or five years longer before being eligible to draw benefits or to be means tested to ensure those benefits are truly needed. They would rather let someone in their twilight years go without affordable coverage or full health care protection to get “free care” by letting the government take more money in taxes than they would have to spend on insurance if government just got the hell out of health care….they are deaf, dumb and blind….they are the new Americans..

    • 100%, totally, completely agree, Rick. I wish I could “Like” your comment, as well as Cosmo’s post.

The term “entitlement” is now more than just a descriptive; it’s an actual way of life.
The Federal Government has domesticated a % of our country so completely they may as well be cows. All inspiration and self-determination is gone: .”..where’s my check?…”

      It boggles my mind.

Remember ‘Shawshank Redemption”? James Whitmore’s character, ‘Brooks’? How he gets freed, finally, and he’s unable to adjust to the outside world after 50 years in prison, and ends up hanging himself?

That’s what we’re seeing, partner. Some people have had the concept of Freedom literally ripped from their souls, to the extent where they need the Government so completely they may as well me addicted to smack.

It’s Evil. Whether it was done accidentally or on purpose (& it WAS on purpose), the result is Evil, pure and simple.

I’m afraid Rick and JTR are both right. After decades of being “institutionalized” by the freebies of the Left, there are more takers than makers and we saw that during the last election. The low information voter isn’t a myth but a reality. They couldn’t tell you the difference between GDP and RGIII. It will take decades to turn this back around but there is that wise saying about a journey of a thousand miles starting with a step.

I’m in the “Let It Burn” camp and feel only through a total collapse can enough people wake up and rebuild. We’ll see in a year or two what direction the US takes.

    • It’s not my wish, Cosmo, but the longer this goes, the more likely that “Let It Burn” will be the inevitable result.

I’m simply being realistic when I say:
it’s scary to consider how little may be left, AFTER it burns…

It’s not my wish either. After the election I just don’t have much hope for a quick fix over the next few years. Like we’ve talked about before, it’ll take a cultural change over decades. Then again, people like us don’t get too discouraged because we know this is not our real home anyway. We’ve read the book and know that Good wins in the end.
