About

I have a passion for Cosmology, Astronomy, Politics, Running, Cycling and just about anything related to sports.

I am a Christian and do not have issues with Christianity and Science co-habitating.  I can’t believe that God would give us a logical, analytical brain and not expect us to use it to validate and clarify His teachings.  At first Cosmology and Genesis seem to contradict one another but when you dive deep into both areas, you’ll find they are more alike than different.  I enjoy questioning both Science and my Spiritual Beliefs and I find that my faith in both becomes stronger when I do.

By eduction, I am a scientist so I believe in the Scientific Method and believe those same principles can be used in other areas.  What makes Science work is a rigorous review process.  A scientist states a hypothesis, performs a test, presents the data, draws conclusions and then discloses everything for peer review.  It sounds strange to non scientists but the person presenting the results not only welcomes dissenting opinions but encourages them.  It is only through a rigorous review from their peers that the conclusions become accepted science.  Conflict and Disagreement are the norm and not the exception.  This is how I pattern my posts and welcome/expect critical review.  We are debating the facts, not the person.

“Error never shows itself in its naked reality, in order not to be discovered.  On the contrary, it dresses elegantly, so that the unwary may be led to believe that is ts more truthful than truth itself.” – Irenaeus of Lyons

I’m a Christian too, and I have no trouble with the notion that the Big Guy figured that the ancient Hebrews might not be able to handle molecular biology so Genesis was given to tide them over until our knowledge advanced a bit…

Yes, well stated sir! Poor Moses’ head would have been spinning when he heard about the periodic table. Our Creator has a better plan for us and he won’t let us take a drink from a fire hose.

    (H)ave a bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical Engineering . . .”

Yet I can’t make sentences agree.

  3. We sound a lot alike. I’m also pretty interested in politics (as if my blog didn’t give that away), but I’m studying engineering because I think America needs more of those right now. I like the concept of applying the scientific method to government to make it more efficient! Clearly, we have a lot of work to do on that one.

A Christian who loves bourbon and uses profanity while attacking a teenage girl for no reason on Twitter? Big man. My daughter does not know you and yet you RT’d her so that your twisted little followers would jump on the RT & slander bandwagon. You claim you “said stupid shit” in high school, too? Too bad you never grew out of it. Maybe your children will have wonderful encounters online with people just like you. .

As a parent I appreciate you fighting for your child. I’d do the same. Once I saw I was having a twitter convo with someone in HS I backed off and stopped (your daughter saw that and RT’d it). I should have looked at her twitter profile in more depth b4 RT’ing. I definitely have no intention to debate politics with kids. I will teach my kids to keep their twitter profiles private if they aren’t ready to have convos in public. I suggest you do the same.

  6. With all your education I am surprised you did not know you cannot just steal an image from the internet. I am a Artist / Photographer who makes his living licensing and selling images and I have found my Red Barn with the American Flag image on your website at https://cosmoscon.com/2012/05/31/is-the-american-dream-over/
Please contact me at BillCannon@BillCannon.net to make payment arrangements before I am forced to take legal action. Since you are a Christian I know you will do the right thing!!
