Even though the United States was suffering through one of the coldest winters in recent memory, the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) cult wants to remind you that Earth, as a whole, is still warming up.
“The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Tuesday that it was the fourth hottest March in 135 years of records. The overall global temperature was 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit (0.7 degree Celsius) warmer than the 20th century average.”
Really!?!?
I’ll give the AGW cult points for audacity but the actual temperature measurements from 2 different data sets refute the latest claim of NOAA.
The following graphs show the March global temperature anomalies over the past 17 years for 2 well respected temperature data sets. (NOTE – I’d normally include a 3rd, the Hadley Climate Research Unit (HADCRUT3) data but as usual they are very late and March 2014 has not been updated on their website).

Just over the timeframe of the past 17 years, March 2014 was the 9th hottest March using the RSS data and the 8th hottest using the UAH data.
Then how can the NOAA make this claim? Easy answer – They use different temperature data.
NOAA uses the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) and that data has some ‘tricks’ associated with it – here, here, here and here. So only through tampered temperature data can the NOAA make this absurd claim about March 2014 being the 4th hottest March in the past 135 years.
But even conceding this latest claim by the NOAA, things are still getting worse for the AGW cult.
We’re still going on 17 years of flat global temperature anomalies and this is easily shown from these same three data sets mentioned above.
And it gets much, much worse for the AGW cult when you plot the three temperature data sets against atmospheric CO2 concentrations. Remember, the AGW cult says this magical gas controls the thermostat of the Earth’s temperature.

But the correlation of global temperatures with that CO2 increase is severly lacking:
The AGW cult is getting more desperate as each passing year shows flat global temperature anomalies and they’ll need more sensational news stories like the one at the intro of this post to sway the easily fooled. Do not be deceived, keep calm and follow the data to find the truth.
